ディープネスなハウスへとシーンが原点回帰の大きな胎動を見せているなか、東京ダンスミュージックシーンのシンボルの一つとして注目を集めるパーティー、freerange tokyo。09年最後となる今回は、昨年よりBeatoportの人気検索ワードで常に名を連ねている脅威の新鋭、Manuel Turが遂に初来日を果たす！
02年に僅か16歳でデビューして以降、アトモスフィリックで情感豊かな作風から黒いソウルを感じさせるグルーヴィーなトラックまで、その多彩なサウンドは早くから各方面で注目を集め、これまでにfreerange records「Colour」シリーズやNRK「Coast To Coast」、Porker Flat「Bugnology 3」等に楽曲を提供。
また今年リリースしたアルバム「0201」はGROOVE、DJ Mag、Mixmag、IDJ、The Gapなど各国のメディアで絶賛を浴びている逸材だ。今年10月に開催されたADEでのfreerange showcaseの視察を経て、パーティーにさらなる刺激を与えてくれるであろうfreerange tokyoのレジデントDJ、AOSAWAと共に、Redboxからの刺客、Tech Booty Funk、国技館で開催されたビックイベント、Connect '07への出演経験を持つKAJIと、国内からも強者DJ達が集結。
フューチャリスティクなハウスミュージックの現在進行形がここにある。

ドイツの小さな街Essenで生まれ育ったManuel Turは幼少の頃からシンセサイザーに触れ、自然とエレクトロニックミュージックに親しむことでDJの世界に入り音楽制作にも情熱を注ぐようになる。Ian Pooley、Sebastien Leger、Swag、P?p? Bradockといったアーティストからの影響を受けながら、2002年なんと若干16歳にしてロンドンのMada MusicからデビューEP「Caissa / Italo Fake」をリリース。翌年にはSebastien LegerのBits Musicから「Bad Habits EP」をリリースし、シーンで頭角を現す。その後もCyclik、Stamina Recordings、Opaque Music等のレーベルを中心に自身の楽曲を毎年リリースし、2007年には遂にJimpster主催のレーベルfreerange recordsから「Acorado」を発表。この曲は同レーベルの人気コンピレーションCD「Colour」シリーズの「Orange 05」でオープニングを飾ったほか、Karizmaによる名門レーベルNRKの人気MIX CDシリーズ「Coast To Coast」や、他の著名アーティストのMIX CDにも収録され話題となった。その後もConya、Compost Black Label、Drumpoet Community、Mule Electronicなど数々のレーベルから良質なリリースをコンスタントに重ね、その秀でた素晴らしい才能を証明。今年6月には集大成となる1stアルバム「0201」を既にManuelのホームグラウンドとなったfreerangeからリリースし、エレクトロニック・ソウルの新たな形を標榜した傑作として高い評価を得ている。DJとしてもディープ・テックかつ黒いソウルを感じさせるスピリチュアルなスタイルで定評がある。今後も現在23歳の若き天才クリエーター、Manuel Turの動向から目が離せない。
