Konkrete Jungle is here! America's longest-running Drum & Bass event from New York (the hang out of stars such as Fishbone, The Beastie Boys and David Byrne, which boasts the best sound system in NYC) is home to a collective including DJs Odi, Datcide and Junglist at Large and has now landed in Japan courtesy of NYC Konkrete Jungle's founding resident DJ, Qmaxx420. Drum and Bass has survived and grown because it constantly evolves adapting and assimilating itself. The sound, which originated in London and Bristol, reaches out via raga, two-step and intelligent styles, linking and mixing beats and genres.
Here in Tokyo, DJ Kangaroo mixes original tracks with intelligent jungle, Area 88, one of the best underground DJs in the city, works the crowd with his personal methods on the decks and Africa Bambaata's son, King Tone, mixes up the best old jungle and hip-hop with the freshest drum and bass.
